Will AI Replace Feng Shui? – A resounding No.

Grand Master Stanley Tham, alongside his son, Master Dr. Sr Tham KW, are not just renowned and highly respected Feng Shui Masters with an outstanding track record, but also powerful spiritual masters who have seamlessly integrated spiritualism into their practice of Feng Shui. As published by the Edge in Feb 2025, it was claimed that “AI may or may not replace feng shui masters, but it has become an option today.” There had been oversimplification of real Feng Shui, and many people fail to recognize the crucial role of the complexity including proper practice, principles, practice and spiritual power in the practice of Feng Shui. A true and capable Feng Shui Master must possess more than just an extensive understanding of Feng Shui principles and concepts (since 98% of the Feng Shui books in the market are useless and practically copied and pasted over and over again); they must also be adept in spiritual powers. This is essential for addressing the deeper spiritual issues that often exist within a space, as certain residential and commercial locations are home to spirits, ghosts, or demons, which may not be easily removed through Feng Shui remedies alone.

In such cases, a qualified Feng Shui Master must first apply genuine Feng Shui remedies to address the physical environment of the building. Since Artificial Intelligence (AI) relies on data available in the market, the fact that 98% of the Feng Shui books in the market are either copied and duplicated with fake feng shui principles and techniques that are practically useless and not effective. Feng Shui is more complex than merely going by the book as different cases have different scenarios, variables and environment which require different treatments and different remedies. But it doesn’t end there. Spiritual powers and techniques are also necessary to drive out harmful entities, such as spirits and demons, which may be inhabiting the space. Without this additional spiritual work, the space may remain haunted, and the inhabitants could continue to experience negative energy and disturbances. Many proclaimed young and new Feng Shui Masters will be running away at the first instance there are such complex cases.

The Misconception of Feng Shui Simplification
Over the years, many so-called Feng Shui Masters have propagated the idea that Feng Shui remedies are simple and easy to implement. These remedies often include the use of items such as pictures, miniature abacuses, wealth ships, or gold ingots to supposedly “attract wealth” or “enhance energy.” Some practitioners have even suggested that the mere act of sprinkling salt in the house, an idea commonly portrayed in ghost movies, could serve as a solution to cleaning a space of negative energy.

However, the reality is much more complex. Grand Master Stanley Tham has always maintained that genuine Feng Shui practice is deeply rooted in understanding and applying both the physical environment and spiritual forces within a space. He has consistently used both authentic Feng Shui principles and spiritualism to help his clients. This approach has proven highly effective in cleaning buildings, evicting negative spirits and demons, and transforming environments into places of peace, prosperity, and positive energy.

The Role of Religion and Spiritualism in Feng Shui
Feng Shui and Religious Beliefs: Are They Interrelated?
Many years ago, many Feng Shui Masters claimed that enhancing and remedying a building’s Feng Shui could be as simple as placing items like paintings, miniatures of abacuses, wealth ships, or gold ingots to attract positive energy. Some even argued that cleaning a house with salt or ringing bowls—techniques often portrayed in ghost films—could solve issues with negative energy. But such surface-level practices have often misled practitioners and enthusiasts alike.

The truth is, Feng Shui operates on different levels, and its depth is often misunderstood. For some, Feng Shui is merely seen as a metaphysical system or as ergonomics in architecture and design, optimizing the flow of energy within physical spaces. However, for those who have experienced it firsthand, Feng Shui can transcend mere aesthetics or functionality—it can indeed take on a religious or spiritual dimension. This deeper level of Feng Shui can only be understood through experience, and it highlights the connection between Feng Shui and spiritual belief systems. In its most profound form, Feng Shui acknowledges the presence of spiritual forces, and this is where the expertise of a true master, like Grand Master Stanley Tham and his son Master Dr Tham, becomes indispensable.

Why Are Buddhist Amulets and Statues Relevant in Feng Shui?
In certain Feng Shui cases, especially when the energy in a space is severely negative, the environment can harbor harmful spirits or uninvited demons. These entities often cause a series of unfortunate events, such as nightmares, bad luck, health issues, insomnia, and a general sense of unease. In these critical cases, spiritual power is necessary to combat these forces and restore balance to the space.

When dealing with such complicated situations, a remedy usually involves adjusting the Feng Shui of the space to harness beneficial energy and drive out harmful entities. However, in extreme cases, spiritual knowledge becomes paramount. This is where the connection between Feng Shui and spiritualism is clear. Master Tham has always emphasized that when the physical environment alone cannot provide a solution, spiritual tools, such as Buddhist amulets or statues, may be required. These items are not merely decorative; they hold powerful spiritual significance and can serve as protective tools, offering blessings and warding off negative energy.

Buddhist statues, for example, are not only a symbol of faith but are also believed to carry spiritual power that can help purify a space and its occupants. Similarly, Buddhist amulets have been used for centuries to protect individuals from harmful spirits and negative influences. In these contexts, the integration of religious and spiritual practices into Feng Shui is not just relevant but essential to creating a truly harmonious environment.

Some Feng Shui Masters Say Buddhist Statues Are Not Useful – A Response
There are some Feng Shui Masters who claim that Buddhist statues and other religious artifacts are not useful within Feng Shui practice. To these critics, the role of spiritual items in Feng Shui may seem unnecessary or irrelevant, often reducing the practice to mere physical and environmental adjustments. However, Master Stanley Tham firmly disagrees with this view.

In his experience, these so-called “masters” often lack the deep understanding and hands-on experience necessary to truly grasp the complexity of Feng Shui. Their criticisms are born from ignorance, not from a place of genuine expertise. Master Tham has encountered many individuals who were initially taught by such masters, only to later find that their advice and remedies had little to no effect. This lack of comprehensive knowledge often results in students and clients suffering from the consequences of poorly executed Feng Shui.

For Master Tham, it is clear that the practice of Feng Shui is far more than just superficial fixes. It is a nuanced and comprehensive system that requires both intellectual and spiritual understanding. Religious and spiritual items, such as Buddhist statues and amulets, play a significant role in this intricate practice and should not be dismissed as irrelevant. Feng Shui, when practiced correctly, is deeply intertwined with spirituality and the understanding of unseen forces. There had been complex cases where involve spirits and demons in which only those who had faced such cases will come to be aware that the supernatural is indeed VERY REAL. While different religions have different ways to overcome these issues, we adopted ancient Theravada practices to complement the Feng Shui consultancy for complex cases. In these complex cases, Good Energies are required to be induced to the premise so that any unwanted spirits will not be able to take it and will leave the premises. In more complex cases, further spiritual powers including chanting in ancient Theravadan texts are supplemented to peacefully invite these beings (respectfully) out of the premise. Depending on the spirits, these have to be respected as well, unless strong persistent authority is required in chanting.

The Power of Amulets, Takruts, and Talismans
For over three decades, Grand Master Stanley Tham and his son Master Dr Sr Tham has been a leader in combining Feng Shui with spiritualism, particularly through the use of amulets, takruts, and talismans. These items, which are often handmade by Master Tham himself, serve as potent tools for protection, healing, and spiritual empowerment. Master Tham has created countless personalized talismans, each one designed to meet the unique needs of his clients, whether to improve wealth, protect against accidents, ward off bad spirits, enhance relationships, or address issues like stress and legal battles.

Master Tham’s approach to these spiritual tools is not a product of quick learning or superficial exposure. Rather, it is the result of over 30 years of close mentorship and personal guidance from powerful spiritual masters. This deep, life-long study has equipped him with the rare knowledge and skill necessary to create highly effective talismans and amulets. These items, crafted with the special ingredients sourced from some of Thailand’s most revered spiritual masters, have brought life-changing results for his clients.

Clients from all walks of life have benefited from Master Tham’s spiritual creations. Whether tailored to specific needs or simply worn for general protection, his amulets and talismans have proven to be reliable tools that help people navigate life’s challenges. Master Tham’s vast experience in crafting these spiritual items reflects his profound understanding of the intersection between Feng Shui and spiritualism—a combination that brings true harmony and balance to any space.

The Seamless Integration of Feng Shui and Spiritualism
What sets Grand Master Stanley Tham apart is his ability to integrate Feng Shui with spiritualism in a manner that respects both the tangible and intangible elements of a space. His holistic approach has helped countless individuals achieve greater happiness, success, and peace in their lives. His teachings emphasize that Feng Shui is not merely about rearranging furniture or placing objects for aesthetic appeal; it is about understanding the deeper spiritual energy that flows through a space and correcting imbalances that may lead to suffering.

Master Tham’s approach is a reminder that true mastery in Feng Shui involves more than knowledge of physical space; it requires an understanding of the unseen forces that govern the flow of energy in and around us. Spiritual work, including the use of amulets, talismans, and other spiritual tools, is not just a supplementary practice, but an essential part of creating lasting change and transformation in a person’s life.

The Future of Feng Shui: A Return to Authentic Practice
As the world continues to evolve, so too does the practice of Feng Shui. The trend toward spiritualism, including the use of protective amulets and talismans, reflects a growing recognition of the importance of spiritual energy in creating a harmonious environment. While many practitioners are just beginning to understand this, Masters like Stanley Tham and his son, Dr. Sr Tham Kuen Wei, have been at the forefront of this integrated approach for decades.

In the future, it is likely that more and more people will begin to realize that true Feng Shui requires a balance between the physical and the spiritual. As the practice continues to evolve, Master Tham’s legacy as a spiritual and Feng Shui master will undoubtedly serve as a guiding light for generations to come.

2024 FengShui for Mercer Group

Malaysia Feng Shui Master Tham provided a talk for MERCER Group on the forecasts of 2024 in various industries and what can be done to enhance luck and increase competitive advantage. Mercer is an American consulting firm founded in 1945. It is one of the four operating subsidiaries of global professional services firm Marsh McLennan.

Feng shui consulting for consulting businesses seeking insights into industry forecasts for investment involves a unique blend of traditional feng shui principles and modern business strategy.

  1. Initial Assessment:

    • The feng shui consultant would conduct an initial assessment of the consulting firm’s office space. This involves analyzing the layout, orientation, and energy flow within the premises.
    • They would also consider the birth dates of key individuals within the business, as per Chinese astrology, to understand their compatibility with the space.
  2. Energy Flow Optimization:

    • Feng shui principles emphasize the importance of harmonious energy flow (Qi) within a space. The consultant may suggest adjustments to the office layout, such as rearranging furniture or adding elements like plants or water features, to optimize energy flow and enhance productivity.
    • In the context of industry forecasts, the consultant may focus on areas of the office associated with wealth and prosperity, ensuring that these areas are energetically supported to attract financial success.
  3. Five Elements Analysis:

    • Feng shui incorporates the concept of the Five Elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water), each representing different aspects of nature and energy.
    • By analyzing the elemental balance within the office space and its alignment with the consulting industry’s forecasted trends, the consultant can provide recommendations to enhance the business’s competitive advantage and adaptability.
  4. Symbolism and Imagery:

    • Feng shui places significance on symbolism and imagery to influence energy and mindset. The consultant may advise incorporating specific symbols or artwork that resonate with the consulting firm’s goals and aspirations.
    • For industry forecasting, these symbols could reflect themes such as growth, innovation, and market leadership, aligning the office environment with the business’s strategic objectives.
  5. Astrological Insights:

    • Chinese astrology, which includes the analysis of birth charts and astrological cycles, can provide insights into favorable timing for investment decisions and strategic initiatives.
    • The consultant may offer guidance on auspicious dates for launching new projects, signing contracts, or making significant financial commitments based on the alignment of astrological influences with industry forecasts.
  6. Continuous Monitoring and Adjustment:

    • Feng shui is not a one-time fix but an ongoing process of harmonizing and optimizing energy flow. The consultant may recommend periodic evaluations of the office space and adjustments as needed to align with evolving industry trends and business goals.
    • By staying attuned to both energetic shifts and market dynamics, the consulting firm can proactively adapt its strategies and investments to maintain a competitive edge.

In essence, integrating feng shui consulting into the strategic planning process enables consulting businesses to leverage the subtle yet powerful influences of their physical environment to support their growth, innovation, and success in an ever-changing industry landscape.

President of Indonesia Jokowi Chooses Auspicious Date for Cabinet Reshuffle – Malaysia Feng Shui Master Tham

JAKARTA (The Jakarta Post/Asia News Network): President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo dropped a hint on Tuesday (Jan 31) that a cabinet reshuffle could be announced on Feb 1 or on Thursday when asked when the fresh political move would be made.

Speaking during an anniversary event held by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), President Jokowi said he would likely announce it based on his calculation of the Javanese calendar.

“Just wait [for the announcement]. Wednesday is Pon and Thursday Wage,” President Jokowi said, referring to the third and fourth day in the Javanese calendar. The President has frequently opted to announce his cabinet shake-up on Wednesday Pon in the past, which in Javanese tradition is considered to be the best day of the week.

The above is fully cited from reliable sources as Cited by The Jakarta Post (Jan, 2023) and Malaysia’s The Star Newspaper (The Star, Feb 2023).

Many prominent leaders, HNWIs, royal families, powerful and successful  individuals and families choose and select auspicious dates for their main events such as signing of agreements, ground breaking, opening ceremonies and moving in to new properties. Disney also put a bend in the walkway from the train station to the gate, to make sure the flow of positive energy, or chi, does not slip past the entrance and out to the China Sea.”

In fact, many of the successful people, conglomerates, powerful leaders and Ultra High Networth Individuals (UHNWI) still choose to select their auspicious dates for important ceremonies.

Oscar, the Supernatural Cat that Predicts Death

Every cat owner knows how cats can comfort you after a bad day. When you get home completely washed out, they jump in your lap and force you to caress them. As you pet your furry friend, you can feel how your tension fading away. But not all cats are like that. Some do not fancy human company as much, and Oscar is one of them. He used to live at the third floor of Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, United States of America.

What’s so special about this cat that we include it in our Feng Shui Site?

Well, since Oscar was adopted by the hospital staff members as a kitten in 2005, Oscar managed to predict deaths of more than a hundred patients in the nursing home’s advanced dementia unit. Oscar is not a very sociable cat, but its presence next to a patient indicates impending doom. Doctors even tested his ability by putting Oscar next to a presumed soon-to-be-death patient. He jumped off the bed and went straight across the hall to an elderly man, who passed away in the next two hours. The death-sensing cat experienced a severe allergic reaction in 2013 itself, but Oscar managed to recover.

Oscar rose to fame in 2007 when a Medical Specialist, Dr. David Dosa published an article in the New England Journal of Medicine. The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) is a weekly medical journal published by the Massachusetts Medical Society. It is among the most prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals as well as the oldest continuously published one in United States, and perhaps the world. The facts’ surrounding Oscar’s ability is astounding.

After Oscar had been at Steere House for around six months, staff noticed that Oscar often chose to nap next to residents who died within several hours of his arrival. It seemed to staff as if Oscar were trying to comfort and provide company to people as they died. Joan Teno, a physician at Steere House, clarified that it’s not that the cat is consistently there first. But the cat always does manage to make an appearance, and it always seems to be in the last two hours.

After Oscar accurately predicted 25 deaths, staff started calling family members of residents as soon as they discovered him sleeping next to someone in order to notify them and give them an opportunity to say goodbye before the impending death. As of 2018, Oscar has accurately predicted more than 100 deaths.

There is no scientific and logical explanation of Oscar’s ability. Some forecasted that Oscar may have the ability to see things, while some scientists believe that he is simply responding to a pheromone or a scent where a person is about to die. However, the latter seemed to not be the cause as the patients who died all had different causes and the hypothesis of scent was rejected. Even though it is a creepy gift, families are usually glad that Oscar is around. He cuddles next to soon to be gone souls and makes their last journey a bit more pleasant. He also offers huge support to family members, as they can spend the last hours with their loved one. The death-sensing cat is getting old itself, but his rounds and contribution to patients and their loved ones will never be forgotten.

In one of our Feng Shui cases experience, a client of ours’ grandmother was 90 years old and frequently dreamt of black figures waiting at her bedside. According to her, they seemed to be waiting and “inviting” her to some place. However, after wearing our amulets and prayers, she had the same dream, the only difference is that she saw monks in orange robes came, and these monks battered the black figures with sticks that they ran away. She told us that she never had any more dreams after that and that she slept soundly. She lived for another half a decade before succumbing to old age peacefully at 98 years old. Our client told us that his grandmother’s prolonged life is a miracle as at that time of her dream, she was having old age sickness and most likely is going to die while having the nightmares. The prayers and amulets seemed to have helped her to prolong her life. If it weren’t for the prayers and powerful amulets, the nightmares may have taken her during sleep.

People will age and eventually pass away. This is one of the four noble truths in life. It is not a matter of how long one lives, but how to live our lives to the fullest. Those who are aware of such supernatural and wisdom that live orchestrates will do more good deeds, pray and utilize both Feng Shui and religion to live a fulfilling life of peace, harmony, longevity and happiness.

(Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence),名为奥斯卡的猫就是很好的例子。

Feng Shui: Metaphysics or Religion?

Is Feng Shui a Religion?

It is neither Science but is somehow different from Religion either

If we are to look at the basic definitions of what a religion means, Yale University Press pulished an article where Religion is defined as a social-cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, morals, beliefs, worldviews, texts, sanctified places, prophecies, ethics, or organizations, that relates humanity to supernatural, transcendental, and spiritual elements.

There is no scholarly consensus on what precisely constitutes a religion.

To discuss this on our Feng Shui Magazine serves to provide a deep dive into Feng Shui from a perspective that many people failed to understand. The following few points would make us understand what Feng Shui is:-

  1. a) The basic answer is that, Feng Shui is neither religion nor Science. It is an ancient practice. Religion had a lot to do with you believing in it for it to happen, but Feng Shui effects are real regardless of whether you believe in it or not, despite there is a need of some faith to put Feng Shui to use for it to work. Metaphorically, you do not have to believe in an airplane for it to fly, as it will fly anyway, but it takes one to purchase a ticket and board the flight in the first place.
  2. b) Feng Shui can still be closely linked to religion for the following reasons:-

– There are Yin & Yang philosophies that prioritizes the “middle path” and balance of everything

– There are supernatural elements in Feng Shui due to the concepts of Yin and Yang, and how bad Feng Shui can bring in spirits and evil things, where in these cases, supernatural elements exists and requires the assistant of a competent religious and Feng Shui master to overcome. This element of Good Energies and Bad energies are elements of spiritual power.

Faith, in addition to experience has been considered a source of religious beliefs. Hence Feng Shui is somewhat religious, but its existence and applications is mutually exclusive of whether you believe in it for Feng Shui to works or not; for it works anyway. Just like while some people don’t believe in the supernatural such as ghosts and spirits, but there are many who had experienced it. If the Feng Shui is bad, it will continuously affect one regardless of whether he or she believes in it. Experience leads to Faith eventually. People who knew and experienced real genuine Feng Shui will understand this. Sceptics will then ask, how do you prove Feng Shui? And this brings us to the next topic of discussion.

Can we Prove Feng Shui?

Yes. But it is not so direct. – Master Tham Kuen Wei

Coming from a scholarly and intellectual background, having published technical papers on journals, how do we scientifically prove something in the first place? In Science and Technology, these are proven via publications in journal articles which forms the basis of judgment of a specific community. Experts in Medical journals would review new findings and adopt the “replication” of such experiments to identify the validity and usability of such findings. Yet, asking whether there is such a way as to scientifically prove whether Feng Shui exist, would be like asking a question of how do you prove how deep do you love someone, or how do you prove that human beings are capable of having a “thoughts”. Can you scientifically prove a person is thinking about someone right now? These are a few points to consider. Yet, just because you can’t scientifically prove these, it doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Just like the academic publishing community, or the religious community who have their holy texts and books, structure and beliefs, Feng Shui is not mutually exclusive to these. For over 4000 years, we had seen the accounts of not just our clients, but people regardless of religion, culture and social class who witnessed real changes in their life due to Feng Shui. The string of cases of these people who witnessed change are part of those would be able to prove the existence of Feng Shui. Writing this article is not meant to make someone believe in Feng Shui, but rather clarify and reaffirm genuine Feng Shui practitioners and users that Feng Shui is very real, and one should not be closed minded to immediately negate the importance of Feng Shui. Feng Shui survives over 4,000 years* (Cambridge, 2004) and had been practiced widely until today. Emerging earlier than most cultural and religious practice, Feng Shui is not a religion, but an ancient practice that had survived and expanded internationally including being implemented by personalities including Donald Trump (Guardian (2005) & New York Times (2005), Hong Kong Billionnaires Li Ka Shing, Tan Sri’ Lim Goh Tong* (The Star, 2008), Tan Sri’ Lee Kim Yew* (The Edge, 2014), Tan Sri’ Francis (The Star, 2017), Tan Sri’ Francis Lau Tuang Nguang (2017), Tan Sri’ Teo Soo Cheng* (The Edge, 2014) or corporations such as Disney, the New York Transportation Authority and Genting Casino Group. As according to The Star, 12th Feb 2017 on an interview with Tan Sri’ Francis Lau, the tycoon of Leong Hup Group Berhad, he said “Although our office is over 20 years old, its feng shui is good. This is why our business can grow from RM100mil to over RM5.5bil. I am happy and comfortable here,” says Francis, the youngest of the Lau brothers. In his home, feng shui elements are dominant. Greeting guests with a clear pool of soft-flowing water in the centre, the broad and bright interior of the house appears to usher in the “chi” or luck through the main entrance. Francis’ wife Puan Sri Wong Kee Choo tells Sunday Star: “This house was renovated according to feng shui principles. There is a sense of harmony and peace. Visitors feel good and comfortable in our home.”

Note: One should decide for him and herself on what Feng Shui is, and shouldn’t judge others for what others believe in or had experienced with Feng Shui. There had been some jokers who without understand Feng Shui, claims it being superstitious. If Feng Shui is superstitious, one can say that all religions in the world are superstitious. Can you prove Karma exist? Can you prove that God exist? For those who aren’t shallow minded and willing to try, you may be surprised to understand how Feng Shui can really help one’s destiny.
